6.4.4 Grammar Spot - Present perfect and Past simple

1. The past simple expresses an action finished in the past.  

Ex. We went to Portugal last year. 


2. The present perfect expresses an action that has happened some time before now. 

Ex. She has gone to the United States

If we want to say when something happened in the past, we use the Past Simple. 
Ex. She went to the United States three years ago.
